Coopwood Publishing Group is excited to announce we have acquired the Mississippi Business Journal, a trusted source of news and information for Mississippi’s business community. The MBJ will now be part of our publication family, which includes Delta Magazine, Delta Business Journal, Delta Ag Journal, and our weekly newspaper, The Bolivar Bullet, based in Cleveland, Mississippi.
As we step into this new role as proud and committed owners of the MBJ, we are filled with excitement and determination to maintain the MBJ’s reputation as the leading publication for business news and insights in our state. Leveraging our expertise and experience, we are committed to taking the MBJ to new heights.
Given the attention created by our announcement, we have received inquiries about the direction we plan to take with the MBJ. The following addresses some of these questions:
Content
Our editorial focus will cater to a broad readership, including corporate owners, managers, small businesses and other business entities across Mississippi. Coverage will encompass business news, trends, profiles of innovative business leaders and their ventures, and guest columns on relevant Mississippi topics. We will also provide extensive coverage of industries statewide, ranging from manufacturing and healthcare to construction, banking, finance, and more. We welcome story ideas and encourage engagement. Feel free to reach out to me directly at scott@msbusinessjournal.com with your business story suggestions.
Subscriptions
Previously, one-year print and digital subscriptions for “full access” cost $99. For a limited time, we are offering one-year full access subscriptions for $56. Alternatively, an annual digital subscription alone will be priced at $46.
Website
While we now own the MBJ website, (msbusiness.com), our new website and domain will be msbusinessjournal.com. The new site is under construction and expected to launch in late July. In the meantime, a temporary site will be accessible for information on contacting us, advertising and subscriptions.
Social Media/E-Newsletters
We are actively engaged on social media platforms. MBJ activity is expected to start in mid to late July.
A weekly e-newsletter will also be sent to 50,000 email addresses across the state. Subscriptions to the
e-newsletter are free; sign up on our website. Rest assured, we will not share your email address.
Advertising
We have adjusted advertising rates to enhance affordability for all businesses wanting to advertise in the MBJ. We also intend to modify some planned focuses for the remainder of 2024. More details on the editorial calendar will be provided soon, along with new focus sections.
Events and Salutes
In addition to the print edition, we will continue hosting events that celebrate business leaders statewide. These events offer a platform to showcase the innovative and impactful work of Mississippi’s business community, honoring those driving economic growth and success in the state. Specifics on upcoming events will be announced shortly.
Circulation
If you are receiving this MBJ edition, you are among 10,000 recipients, including Mississippi business leadership, statewide businesses, economic development directors, members of the Mississippi Legislature, elected officials, our Mississippi delegation in Washington, D.C., and key industry leaders. We have extended circulation to 50 prominent Wall Street leaders in New York and notable national media outlets to showcase Mississippi’s developments and opportunities such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Forbes Magazine, Fox News, CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS.
Mississippi is witnessing unprecedented economic growth. We believe in sharing our state’s business accomplishments and advancements. As stewards of the Mississippi Business Journal, we are devoted to highlighting this narrative positively and impactfully. At our publications, we strive to be more than news sources—we are storytellers, advocates and champions of Mississippi’s vibrant narrative.
Our goal is to inform, educate and inspire our readers by spotlighting the achievements and contributions of those shaping Mississippi’s prosperous future. We look forward to embarking on this new journey with MBJ’s loyal readers, contributors and partners.
In closing, the 2024 CEO Awards of Mississippi event was held at the Old Capitol Inn on June 13 in Jackson. In the August edition of the MBJ we will bring you that story and listing of the ceos who were saluted.
