On Friday, June 28, Governor Tate Reeves participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for Amplify Cell Technologies, a new joint venture from Accelera by Cummins, Daimler Truck, and PACCAR in Marshall County.
The joint venture will localize battery cell production for commercial vehicles, invest $1.9 billion into a Marshall County facility, and create more than 2,000 new jobs with an average annual salary of approximately $66,000. Additionally, at $1.9 billion, this is the third largest economic development project in state history.
“Thank you to Accelera by Cummins, Daimler Truck, and PACCAR,” Reeves said to an audience of dignitaries, company officials, and others who attended the event including U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. “To have three industry leaders such as yourselves joining forces to create Amplify Cell Technologies and to choose Mississippi for this historic investment speaks volumes to what is happening in our state.”
Accelera, Daimler Truck and PACCAR each own 30% of, and jointly control the joint venture. EVE Energy will serve as the technology partner in the joint venture with 10% ownership. The goal of the joint venture is to accelerate and localize battery cell production and the battery supply chain in the U.S. The company will manufacture battery cells for electric commercial vehicles and industrial applications, creating quality manu-facturing jobs in the growing clean technology sector. The joint venture’s 21-gigawatt facility will be located on a portion of the Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park Megasite near Byhalia.
